Is this okay to wear to a dance?

We have this thing at my school called the 8th grade dinner dance. Me any my friend were planning to go dressed similarly. We were gonna wear Black heels, white dress, black tie, and black fedora. Do guys think that is cute or just weird? And girls your opinion to? If not, what should we wear? We both have really dark brown hair, almost black, just to let you know. And can you give us links for the cloths you pick out. Thank you.
