I've never met my father and now he's coming out of prison! But I want to. HELP!

I'm 15 now and I have never met my father! I want to but my mom keeps me from him. When she was pregnant he got into some trouble with the law. A burglary or something I've never been told the whole story only bits and pieces. Lately I've been hearing about him coming out of prison and my mom wanting a divorce. My mom has been crying a lot she seems confused. Yesterday I asked her if I could meet him and she said no. I don't know what to do. I want to meet him. Please give me some advise.
